Hasselman - Frank

Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana, September 12, 1924

The many friends of Frank Hasselman were  very much surprised to hear of his death on Saturday. Death  resulted from pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the home  of his parents in the north part of Indianapolis on Tuesday  afternoon. Mr. Hasselman was born in Indianapolis in 1879.
He graduated from high school and attended Princeton  University two years. He worked in the florist business for some  years until his health failed. He came to Waveland and camped near Bluff Mills  for some months. His health improving he began buying land at the  mill until at his death, he owned over three hundred acres,  including the old Deer mill and the Devil's Backbone. He had a  number of cottages which he rented to summer visitors, and  conducted a small store. For a year his farm was taken over by  the state as a game farm and preserve. He had quite a collection  of animals and birds native to Indiana which he exhibited at the  County and state fairs. He organized an association looking to  the preservation of our game and forests. He was of a lively,  generous disposition and made many friends who regret never to  hear his hearty laugh. He is survived by his parents and four  brothers; Harry, Victor and James of Indianapolis, and Lawrence  who lives at Bluff Mills. - kbz
